Welcome,
From the President of AAC
Welcome to all visitors to the Albatross Aero Club website. I hope you can learn much from this window into our Club and all that it offers. Most importantly for newcomers, I hope it excites you to want to know more, meet some of our team and start on the road to learning to fly. It is a tremendous skill and hobby and I recommend it to everybody to give it a go. For over fifty years and 5,000+ flying hours, the buzz of flying has never left me: for forty years I was privileged to have served as a Navy pilot in both fixed wing and helicopters based mostly here at HMAS ALBATROSS in Nowra. Planning, understanding the weather, preparing your route and maps, getting airborne, doing it safely and with confidence and sharing it with others is as much a joy as it is a terrific challenge to make the most of doing it as well as you can. So give a Trial Instructional Flight a go. Our club offers a 30 or 60 minute package to provide a taste of general aviation and light aircraft. If you’re more experienced, then come and enjoy our competent and varied fleet of aircraft to progress your type ratings and skills. You’ll see from our instructors page that we have a diverse and very well qualified team of professionals to guide, assist and encourage all comers at all levels of experience.
Look forward to seeing you at the Club and I am always contactable through this website and the Club email and am delighted to help.

Supporting ADF Personnel
The Albatross Aero Club (AAC) is a non-profit organisation modelled after a “Service” club, with roots tracing back to its Navy flying club origins. Our primary mission is to offer safe and cost-effective recreational flying and flight training for members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF), including HMAS ALBATROSS and nearby ADF units, as offering opportunity to learn about flying for their families and friends. While primarily serving ADF personnel, we also welcome a select number of civilian members from the local community. To have an authoritative, accurate and timely source of information and entry portal into the Albatross Aero Club from membership to safe operations.

Where it All Started
The Albatross Aero Club first appeared in the 1980s to stimulate civilian aviation interests in the ship’s company of HMAS ALBATROSS through a recreational sports club structure in accordance with Defence and Navy policy of the day.
